Privacy

Gift ID handles what you tell it about your spiritual life carefully. This page explains what we collect, why we are allowed to hold it, and how you stay in control.

At the moment accounts are switched off. Nothing you answer is stored on our servers: your result lives only on your device, and the PDF is built from your answers and not kept. The sections about accounts below describe what would apply if accounts are switched on again.

What we collect

Taking the self-check needs no account and collects nothing beyond your answers, which stay on your own device unless you choose to download a PDF or save a result to an account. If you sign in, we store your email address for signing in, the item-by-item answers and computed result for any run you choose to save, and any consent choices you make. We never ask for your date of birth, gender, location, or any other demographic detail.

Who is responsible for your data

Gift ID is run by Liju Rajeev, based in Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, who is the data controller for everything described on this page. Write to contact@gift-id.online for anything to do with your data.

Why we are allowed to hold this

Answers about your spiritual life are a special category of personal data under UK GDPR, since they concern religious belief. We only ever store them against your account with your explicit, specific consent, given separately for saving to an account, for anonymised research, and for sharing with a group leader. You can withdraw any of these at any time in your account settings, and withdrawal takes effect immediately.

Who processes this data

Cloudflare hosts this website and prepares a PDF when you request one. The answers you send for a PDF are processed briefly by its server and browser services and are not saved by Gift ID. Cloudflare runs a worldwide network, so this processing can take place outside the UK and EU. Accounts are currently switched off, and this version does not send your answers to Supabase. We do not use advertising networks, third-party trackers, or sell your data. During the move, Netlify may briefly receive and forward website requests, including answers sent for a PDF, to Cloudflare. This can happen outside the UK and EU. Gift ID does not save those answers during forwarding. If you email our contact address, Cloudflare forwards your message to the owner's Gmail inbox.

How we count visits

We count how many people open each page, so we can tell whether Gift ID is reaching anyone and where it is being read. This counting uses no cookies. The daily visit tallies do not include your name, your internet address, or an individual device or browser identifier. What is kept is a daily tally. For example: how many people opened the first page in Malayalam on a given day, which countries visits arrived from, whether people were reading on a phone, a tablet or a computer, which website sent them here, what time of day they came, how far through the self-check people tend to get, and how many downloaded a PDF. Your answers are never part of it. The web address of a result is reduced to its shape before anything is counted, so a result can never be traced back through these tallies. If your browser asks not to be tracked, through Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we stop sending page-view and journey events from your browser. Anonymous PDF-download totals and the temporary safety counters described below can still be recorded. The daily tallies are stored in Cloudflare D1, in a database restricted to the EU. To limit repeated requests and protect the statistics sign-in, we also keep temporary safety counters. They use a code made from your internet address with a private key, rather than storing the address itself. They do not contain your answers. The site checks the time recorded for each counter once an hour and removes entries more than 24 hours old in small batches. They can remain longer if the cleanup is delayed or has many entries to remove. Cloudflare also handles ordinary request information as the website host. The EU restriction on the database does not mean all request processing happens in the EU. Recovery copies of older anonymous tallies are also retained with our previous host, Netlify.

How long we keep it

A result you never save stays on your device only. We never see it unless you download a PDF (the answers pass through our server to build the document and are not kept) or save it to an account. A saved result stays until you remove it or delete your account, at which point it is deleted straight away, not just hidden. Your sign-in record (your email address and the dates you signed in) is kept while your account exists and deleted with it. If you gave anonymised research consent for a result, a copy of its answers with no name, email or other link back to you may be kept indefinitely to check how well the questions work. It cannot be found or deleted individually once your saved answers are gone, because nothing then connects it to you.

Your rights

You can see your saved results at any time in your account. You can change or withdraw any consent, remove one saved result, or delete your whole account and everything linked to it, all from your account settings, with no need to write to us first. You also have the right to ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle it. To ask us anything about your data, write to contact@gift-id.online.
